Why Workplace First Aid Kits Matter for Your Business

Accidents happen—even in the safest environments. A cut in the kitchen, a trip in the warehouse, or a burn in the workshop can put staff out of action if the right supplies aren’t on hand. That’s why NZ businesses need workplace first aid kits designed to handle real-world situations.

Insinc Products makes it easy for offices, schools, and commercial sites to stay prepared with compliant, reliable, and easy-to-use first aid supplies. From compact kits for low-risk settings to industrial first aid packs for factories, we’ve got every business covered. And when it’s time to top up, our first aid kit refills mean you don’t have to start from scratch—saving money and reducing waste.

Keep your workplace safe, compliant, and ready for anything with our range of commercial first aid kits.

FAQ's:

Do workplace first aid kits expire?

Yes, first aid supplies do have a shelf life. Items like bandages, saline solution, antiseptic wipes, and burn gels can expire or lose effectiveness over time. In New Zealand, businesses should check their workplace first aid kits regularly—at least every 6 to 12 months—and replace expired or used items promptly.

What should be in a workplace first aid kit in NZ?

A compliant workplace first aid kit should include essentials such as bandages, adhesive plasters, sterile pads, gloves, scissors, tweezers, saline solution, burn dressings, CPR face shields, and first aid instructions. The exact contents depend on your workplace size and risk level—for example, factories or kitchens may require additional items.

How many first aid kits are required in a workplace?

The number of kits depends on workplace size, layout, and risk factors. As a guideline, at least one well-stocked first aid kit should be available in every workplace. Larger sites, or those spread across multiple floors or buildings, should have multiple kits that are easily accessible.

Where should first aid kits be placed in the workplace?

First aid kits should be mounted or stored in clearly marked, easily accessible areas—never locked away or difficult to reach. Common locations include staff rooms, kitchens, offices, and workshop areas. Signs should also indicate where kits are located.

Can I buy refill packs for workplace first aid kits?

Yes—refill packs are an easy, cost-effective way to keep your kits up to standard. At Insinc Products, we stock refill packs tailored to NZ workplace compliance, so you only replace what’s been used or expired instead of buying a whole new kit.

Who is responsible for workplace first aid kits in NZ?

Employers are responsible for ensuring their workplace has adequate first aid kits and trained staff to use them. Health and safety officers or designated first aiders should also be assigned to check and maintain the kits regularly.
